I have lost 25 pounds in 13 weeks through the WDW. I started out at 205 and wanted to get down to 180 to improve my health and my tennis game.
I already knew about the mighty power of prayer but never was it more dramatically displayed to me than then. My tennis buddy mailed a beautiful note to me pledging to pray for me every day and then I got bold and pinned him down to a time every morning when I would know that I was being prayed for. He promised to pray for me every morning at 7a.m. I put that note on my REFRIGERATOR (!) as a wonderful reminder of a true friend and the power of prayer. (I would rather have prayer than a nuclear reactor in my basement!)
Oh yes, I had my weeks when I lost nothing or very little and then the weight would start coming off again. At the last meeting of our WDW group, a pot-luck (!), a woman brought a 25 pound bag of potatoes. At that time, I had lost about 23 pounds. Lifting that bag was a great demonstration of how much extra weight I had been carrying around. For the most part, I did all of the right things; taking small bites, drinking between bites, using smaller plates or saucers, etc., but I know that God was honoring those prayers and they are the reason that my WDW experience was so successful.
I encourage you to find a prayer buddy and commit to each other for daily prayer for discipline, perseverance, commitment, and focus.
Keep tugging at the hem of His robe and He will be with you through the desert and out to the promised land.
I just went out and had my suits altered and bought a new one, because it has been 6 weeks since I lost the weight and so I had some confidence that I could do it. It feels so good!
You can do it to if I can! I'm a 57 year old man who didn't know the first thing about self discipline. I knew that I needed to lose 25 pounds. My father had died of a heart attack at age 54. I lead a much healthier life style than he did, but it's something to think about.
I recommend that you go out and buy a pair of slacks in the next size smaller than you wear now, not expensive ones, but just something that will tell you that good things are happening! Look in the mirror and think about what you WILL look like and how much better you'll feel when you reach your goal weight. Think about how great it will feel when someone says, "You've lost a lot of weight, haven't you? You look great!" I believe I'm even a little smarter!
Don't believe all those people that say that men lose weight easier than women. I've tried every diet that's come down the road for the past 25 years and the WDW is the only thing that's worked for the long run!!
I get excited when I share my success and am able to encourage someone else. God is Great and the Power of Prayer is awesome! God Bless you in your effort to grow closer to Him and to rid yourself of the burden of being overweight.
